We’re All Going to Die

Hurricane Wilma, according to weather forcasts, is heading toward the Florida Keys and should make landfall by Monday. It appears that God hates people living near beaches or tropical climates.

For my next English Literature assignment, I’m required to read The God of Small Things, a novel written by an Indian author. Naturally, instead of, you know, reading I’m busy searching through ebay for a beginner’s knitting kit. Image hosted by Photobucket.comThat’s right people, I’m going to learn how to knit. This isn’t the first time I’ve tried to fool myself into thinking I’m a crafty person. On the other hand, my mother, the long-lost sister of Martha Stewart, is a craft extraordinaire. She’s done everything from cross-stitching, mosiacs, decoupage, painting, puzzles, gift wrapping and now more recently, scrapbooking. There’s no telling what the woman can create from a batch of popsicle sticks and some wood glue. Growing up making Christmas ornaments and puff painted t-shirts (classy), has left me with an underlying interest in crafts. Unfortunately, I’m extremely, frustratingly lazy. I leave many projects undone and unmastered. My last attempt at learning acrylic nail art ended miserably. Still, my writing letters has increased my interest and dare I say, talents, in paper crafts. I often embellish my letters or I recycle stationary into useful envelopes. After browsing through craftster.org/forum, I am filled with such inspiration to pursue this next task that I am convinced I will be a master at knitting. I am so sure of it, in fact, that I can already imagine myself strolling down the street in my neat, homemade, knitted hobo bag.

Halloween is fast approaching and I’m putting the finishing touches on my costume. Since I lack original ideas, I’m going as a Japanese schoolgirl. How can a Puerto Rican girl pull this off, you ask? Don’t worry, I’ve got it covered.

As you can see, the main theme has been changed to Ohayou. I’m working on organizing the links in the Pretty in Pink theme. Shibooya Radio is currently without tracks. This is because my computer has lost its shit and refuses to convert my mp3s without randomly restarting. Eventually this will need to be corrected by a reformat. And it really hurts me to say that. Donate! You’ll also notice that I’ve added a link for donations to UNICEF. I’ve set a modest amount of $50 dollars. I’ve already donated a dollar which means I only need 49 people to donate a single dollar each. Your donations go directly through the UNICEF website to help disasters like Hurricane Katrina, the Pakistan earthquakes and the recent floods in Mexico. Any amount is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

That is so, SO familiar. xD

Anyway, I’ve read that book. I didn’t really like it (there’s so much dirt and grime in the story)… But then again I was a lot younger. I don’t think I’ll be attempting to reread it anytime soon though haha
