This is What Disaster Looks Like
Shibooya Radio is back online and ready to amaze you with its astronomically cool tunes. On the playlist are a few gems from Imogen Heap and my newest obsession, Matt Pond PA. Listen and love them.
I’m currently working on my first knitted scarf because, you know, in Orlando you can never have too many scarves. It’s the tropical wind that gets so devastatingly chilly. I haven’t really advanced beyond the cast-on and knitting technique which means my scarf is very boring. Through meetup.com, I was able to find a knitting group at a local bookstore. The group organizer sat me down to knit a small square which turned out to be a fantastic knitting failure. I have a huge problem with knotting in consistent tension which makes all my knitting look like fishing nets.
Get Rich or Die Tryin’ opened this weekend to amazing critical acclaim. According to the plot outline, 50cent plays a drug dealer who rejects crime in order to pursue his dream as a rapper. I’m all for inner city kids having dreams of bigger things but maybe, and this is just a humble suggestion, it should have something to do with getting an education and a job. Or they could die trying to get rich, that works too.
I’m turning 22 this Sunday which means the novelty of being 21 wears off and I can now look forward to the end of my life.

Ok, firstly - I love the scarf. I would love you to knit me one!
It’s so much better than anything I could EVER do!
And secondly happy birthday for sunday - yay

You still knit better than I do. Hehe. Of course, most people knit better than using two sticks to make a yarn-ball…
And I like the radio playlist!

psh! your blog brings humour to my life
and i’m right there with you re: knitting failures. Hence my decision to stick with crocheting. But cheers to you for trying and for searching out a knitting group. I’m impressed!

“Get Rich or Die Tryin’ opened this weekend to amazing critical acclaim” Woah, sarcasm alert. I’m so disappointed too, I had such high expectations for this movie- and I also have the dream of making it out of the inner city to become a rapper, so I can really relate to 50 cent (or as his homies say, ‘fiddy’).
Hey I looked at your ‘disaster’ scarf and I didn’t see anything wrong with it at all! It’s not lumpy or full of holes or getting increasingly smaller at one end (like my first try), and it’s a nice color. What are you talking about?
PS: SHIBOOYA RADIO LIVES!!!

OOH I’m going to check out that radio thing lol right after I finish this comment. I’ve been meaning to try some more Imogen Heap. I really like her song Hide and Seek.
Aw. That scarf looks cute so far. I hope you’re having fun with it
I probably couldn’t knit if I tried to. There’s a knitting club at my school. Yeah, I didn’t join lol for obvious reasons. (I can’t knit)
Oh my dad had tickets to the premiere of Get Rich or Die Tryin’, but we didn’t go because he had to work overtime. It’s not my kind of movie anyways.
Aw. Happy early 22nd birthday! Well there’s more things to look forward to before the end of your life. There’s getting married, having children…turning 30 especially LOL.

Hello Mari. I really liked your scarf. there is nothing wrong with it. It pertyful. I crochet, not knitt because im not talented enough to use 2 needles at the same time. so, props for you…*PROPS*. I like 50 Cent and I agree about school and jobs and stuff, but the only way a lot of ghetto peeps can get out of poverty is through rap or sports. I want to see it. I hope its not to disapointing. i have seen so many “let-down” movies this past month im going to cry. lol
ps. never ever see the fog. so dumb! (unless you have already seen it.)
