I Feel Like Something’s Missing In My Life

MC16th May 2007Uncategorized, , , ,

It’s been two and a half weeks since I graduated with an English degree from Rollins College. While I felt an overwhelming sense of relief and elation, I also felt like a huge portion of my daily routine suddenly went missing. But now I realize what it is: stress. I’m lacking a huge amount of procrastination-induced, essay writing, brain frying, tears-of-blood boredom stress.

Now that I’m able to reclaim my evening hours, I’m slowly blowing the dust off all the things that I used to work on: the half finished knitted sock, the last 20 pages of Amy Tan’s new novel, the stack of penpal letters and the infuriating last scenes of Grandia III (seriously, how many pseudo-bosses does that game have?).

I have big plans to attend graduate school in the fall but I feel nauseous just thinking about it so I think I’ll do myself a huge favor by waiting until the spring semester. That’ll give me approximately 8 months to enjoy life as God had intended: in bed.

Pink Notecard Set I received an elegant note card set as a graduation gift from a friend who remembered my penchant for stationary. It has inspired me to send out notes to friends and family. Would you like a note from me? Fill out the form at the bottom of the page and leave me your snail mail address for a special message in your mailbox.

The price of stamps was raised another 2 cents recently. Again, I’m stuck with a book of 39 cent comic book stamps. How dare the US Postal Service cheapen the legacies of Hawkman and Plastic Man?

A little time off would do you good. It would give you time to regroup and long for school!

Wow, I love that stationary set!~ Yah, it’s lame how the USPS raised the price of stamps yet again. What happen to waiting atleast 4yrs?!! O_0; I hate having two stamps on my cute stationary letterset envelopes, sigh~ Usually they don’t come out with the new denominations until later, too.

That’s a great idea to wait unti the Spring. It’ll give you time to just relax and enjoy doing nothing for once. ^___________^

I’m glad we’re all in agreeance about the whole time off thing. Jenn, I know they recently offered the “Forever” stamps that are meant to be use regardless of any increase in stamps. But seriously, when it’s $1.00 to send a simple letter I’m going to have to rethink my penpalling hobby.

It’s such an antiquated hobby anyway. I’ve begun to just email out nude images of myself.

Because snail mail takes too long and exposing oneself personally is against the law.

    And your point?

Hey Mari! I haven’t commented on here for ages! So your out of college! WOOHOOT! I know what you mean about stress being gone! I have sooo much stuff I want to get done this summer, it is crazy :) Anyways, Just wanted to say hi again!

It’s a pleasure having you stop by again, Kari. It HAS been a long time!

Isn’t it amazing how strange & bizarre it feels to have GUILT-FREE personal projects again!?

Yea, buy the “forever stamps” since they are suppose to increase it again within 2 years. That way you’ll be saving 2 cents come the next price raise.

Ahh I know how you feel! I’m so used to coming home and studying all night, and now that it’s over for the summer I’m so amazingly free. Taking a semester off before you start grad school, I think, is a great idea. Enjoy your freedom while you still can :D

Congrats on graduating Mari. It’s a humongous thing and even more school? Brave, brave girl :0)

Jen, I think it’d be a good idea to at least have a book of Forever stamps as backup, that way if I get caught with another increase again, I won’t have to scramble to make up the 2 cents.

Sasha, it’s a strange sensation without having any school work to freak out about. I keep feeling pangs of panic for phantom assignments that I think are due soon.

Hey MC! I just received my card! Gorgeous! I’m on the hunt now for my own fab set to use when I write back. What a terrific idea.

Awesome, franki. Glad you liked it! I look forward to your response! I think it’s great that bloggers can connect, if only briefly, outside the “blogosphere”.
