A Strong Indication that I Would Fail at Graduate School

This is all that’s left of my 120CFN Holga camera.
In a moment of sheer stupidity, I left the Holga perched on the trunk of my car and drove home oblivious to it falling off, into the road and pulverized by traffic. By the time I realized what an astronomically stupid mistake I had made, the camera ceased to be. After 20 minutes of squinting into the night, the road illuminated only by the headlights of cars passing by, my boyfriend found the Holga lens and handed it to me. This is when I burst into tears.
I’m not an artistic, experienced or even talented photographer by any means, but I thoroughly enjoy taking photographs. I was especially distraught over losing a roll of 120 film which contained shots of my boyfriend and I taking his saluki to a local dog park. The weather was tolerably warm and the park was situated by a lake which provided fantastic photo opportunities of dogs frolicking in the water, the sun setting behind the trees.
Later this week I’ll finally pick up the Holga prints and find out whether a replacement is in order.
Lost with the Holga–a roll of ridiculously overpriced gaffer’s tape. I’m sure someone’s cardboard box will be kept in perfect shape. You’re welcome, hobo!

I am terribly sorry for your lost.
Has your sister found out about this? I don’t know if she’d want you to babysit after hearing it.

OMG, I’m sorry about your camera. I’d be crying for days. I take my camera everywhere so I definitely feel your pain. Hopefully you’ll get a new camera and take just as good or even better photos on your next visit.

Luis, I’m sure if it was a baby I’d find the WHOLE baby and not just a piece. Stop being so dramatic!

Ooops, sorry to hear about your camera hon. One time I left a Risk game on the back of the truck. Little plastic men were everywhere on the road!

Oh that is so saddening!
Btw, in regards to your previous post, a Playboy themed party sounds awesome! As a future professional bachlorette party planner, I am writing that down in my idea book.

I’m sorry about your camera. It was such a pretty camera too. \
Oh, also, my blog is not being updated right now because it won’t let me login. It doesn’t remember my username, and I can’t recover it. I’m probably going to have to delete it and start over, once I find the time (note the hysterical laugh). Anyway, I will still use the same subdomain, so your link will be good. I just wanted you to know why my blog is radio silence right now.

Thanks for the sympathy, SG. The party turned out awesome. I bought red light bulbs to give the apartment a red, sexy glow and used candles to illuminate the place. It pretty much helped set the mood. Spencer’s was having a clearance on their Playboy items so I was able to buy loads of Playboy paraphernalia pretty cheaply. Now I just have to figure out what the hell to do with all this stuff!
Vanessa, I was wondering what happened to your blog! Ah well, I got your letter and am in the process of responding. Hope you figure out the wordpress issues soon, it’s a good place to channel your creativity!

I’d cry, cry, and then cry some more. And to lose the roll… gah… I would rather throw 5 dollar bills out the window then have a Holga destroyed. I’m sorry.
AND IT WAS NIGHT TOOOOOOOOO!! GAAAAAAAAH :(.

Thanks for the sympathy, Jen. That’s pretty much how I felt too. I finally developed the film so I’ll be posting those on flickr soon. The first two rolls are a little strange but I like the unpredictability of it!

I know! I couldn’t believe I would make such a stupid mistake!

Oh how miserably foul! Don’t beat yourself up anymore. we’ve ALL done something like this. It’s always the top of the car, the counter at Starbucks… something. And it is gut wrenching every single time.
Hope that last roll you had developed was spectacular. Do yourself a favor… go buy another Holga on eBay or Cragslist. You’ll thank yourself.

Thanks Franki, I actually did but an old minolta on ebay only to have it shipped defective! I guess I have terrible luck with cameras…
