Sometimes Cheating is Ok

I think in any workout routine, it’s ok to cheat every once a while (like when a certain roommate bakes brownies with Ghirardelli chocolate squares for your birthday and they cause you to forget why you went into the kitchen in the first place so you end up scarfing down brownies since you’re already standing there).

Today was no exception. I had every intention of running in the morning (since I work late tonight) but I woke up to discover I was having the most spectacular hair day. Really. Every girl has a morning when they wake up to find perfect tendrils (yes, tendrils is the word) splayed across their pillows and cascading over their shoulders. And it just makes you want to whip your hair around in a very TV commercial kind of way. I couldn’t possibly risk sweating and a shower. I’m not crazy, you know.

So I did yoga instead. Or, at first, I tried to do yoga but noticed that something was very wrong. Yoga is a practice that’s meant to soothe the soul and promote spiritual connection with oneself and a higher being. I couldn’t possibly do that when my bedroom looked like this:

Before

I know, it doesn’t make a lot of sense. I don’t know how I let it get this way - well, actually I do, but I’ll save that for a different blog post. I decided I couldn’t possibly concentrate on my postures when I had bras lying around on my bedroom floor.

After

I still cheated when I took this shot because that blue laundry basket? Yeah, I totally pulled it out of the frame.

Haha, the level of messiness looks like mine too! I now have a walk in close where I can dump everything whenever I need my room to look clean.

Cute yoga mat, btw!

I got so many yoga DVDs but always put off actually starting. I’m soo lazy. =S

haha, can’t ruin a good hair day!

I’m the same way with yoga. I can’t do it unless my room is clean, otherwise it’s hard to relax.

minutestar, thanks! My boyfriend got it for me at Walmart, it’s pretty handy!

Katy, I get most from the library but I need to start returning them soon because they’re accumulating late fees!

Sasha, I get really flustered if my room or the house is a mess. So I’ll be stressed until I finally get around to tidying up - even though the mess is my own doing!
