I was Busy
So, I lost my blogging momentum last week but that’s only because I was swamped with real life things. For instance, I had an important meeting with Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Lovely people:
And then, in two evenings, I finished a scarf with yarn that was given to me as a gift a year ago:
And then I baked a shitload of sugar cookies (again, based on the easiest, tastiest recipe).
This year, I’m trying to be as frugal but as meaningful as possible with my Christmas gifts. Usually, when I could afford it, I loved to spoil everyone with unique but useful trinkets they couldn’t find anywhere else. Now that I’m broke, I’ve decided to use my baking and cookies skills to my advantage. I’m baking everyone treats!
I know it’s more traditional to slather the sugar cookies in icing and then add sprinkles, but since these cookies are already pretty sweet, I decided to omit the icing (plus I didn’t feel like whipping some up at 8 o’clock at night).
It never occurred to me that I could tint sugar with food coloring. So, I gave it a shot:
It turned out really well and I’m saving it for the gingerbread cookies I plan on making later this week. This particular batch of sugar cookies went to my boyfriend’s coworkers and I’m anxious to hear the reviews!

It’s hard for me not to nibble on them too! I love chewy cookies!
