Touché, Walmart Marketplace, Touché
For the past couple of months, I’ve been searching for affordable grocery store alternatives to Publix. I swallowed my pride and prejudice and tried out Albertsons, Aldi, Save Rite, Save-A-Lot and the really depressing, steadily declining WinnDixie. But of all the crappy, ghetto supermarkets I’ve been to – I was surprised to find out that Walmart Marketplace (which you’d think would be as insane as their Super Walmarts) really is comparable to Publix. Maybe not in variety or selection (would it kill Walmart to have produce regularly stocked?!) but definitely in price.
Yesterday, after planning out our menu for the next 2 weeks we headed over to Walmart so I could buy quality produce without having to pay nearly $2.00 for one green pepper (seriously, I don’t care if a Cherokee Indian blessed the soil from which it was grown – what’s the point in fancy organic food if I can’t afford it?). I was super surprised to find an enormous bag of more than 5 leg quarters for about $6.00. We’ll be having Oven-Baked BBQ Chicken for days and days…
