Ta Da!
That, my friends, is a strawberry cake with chocolate icing and a freshly cut strawberry on top. Can you tell that I cheated? Because I totally did. I admit it, I used a box mix on sale for 88 cents at the local Walmart Marketplace and believe me, my colon will pay for it later. I made it to satisfy my man’s sudden sweet tooth but my taste buds were crying foul. I mean, I’m no foodie purist but seriously, a cake mix for 88 cents. Let’s just say it doesn’t taste like rays of sunshine. The only reason why I’m even admitting I made it is because I didn’t make a terrible mess of the icing. Yay or nay?
Alright, I’m going on and on about cake when the big change is the blog itself! You’ll notice a new addition: Shibooya’s Secondhand Shoppe. So, what do you think? Not bad, huh?
I know it’s quite a deviation from the food posts you’re used to and I certainly won’t stop those. I’m just adding another aspect for your consideration.
When I worked in retail some time ago, I had a few people stroke my ego when they commented on my unique fashion sense and taste in clothing. I’m a shopper. I love to shop and decided to turn my debt-accumulating obsession into a business move. My little Secondhand Shoppe specializes in 2 to 3 piece outfits – the top, the bottom and sometimes an accessory to complete a modern “vintage” look. For some people, it’s kind of a chore to scour thrift stores all over town trying to find a piece that isn’t too old, too ugly or too big. So I do all the footwork, and find spectacular pieces that are in great shape, then compose a unique outfit for you! I do all the guesswork and take fabulous pictures so you can visualize how it’s going to look on you!
Of course, there are single pieces available as well and all at an affordable price (because I mean, c’mon, vintage is great but if it’s used, it’s used and I get that). It was really, really hard not to keep most of my inventory for myself!
A store opening isn’t complete without a sweet deal for everyone who signs up for the Shibooya’s Secondhand Newsletter! Upon signing up, you’ll get a special coupon code to get 10% off your first purchase! But hurry, the code will only last for 1 month so sign up today and get to shopping! Have a look around Shibooya’s Secondhand Shoppe for some fabulous little thrift store finds! Want a little intro on how the shoppe works? I thought you’d never ask! Seriously, you looked like you didn’t even care and that hurts my feelings:
First things first, new products and special sales are always listed on the left sidebar so you can get a first crack at the inventory! Click on a thumbnail to bring up more images of the item (at the bottom you’ll see how many images are available) and always remember to read the details for notes on the condition of the item or other information.
Since this is the grand opening, things may seem get a little screwy so let me know if something is working incorrectly or if you have a suggestion!
I try to put most if not all the items in context so you can visualize what wear them with or what sexy-face to pose with – but don’t use it as a reference for size. Stick with the measurements! For policy information, check out the uniquely titled page “Policies“.

Aleida, thanks! Well, when you have a mix like I did it only takes about 15 minutes to mix all the crap in. But you know, I hate to sound like snobby foodie purist but it’s so much better when you make it from scratch!
