Things I Didn’t Like About My 2.5 Mile Run Last Night
I hate running on treadmills. I struggle with keeping a steady pace and I feel like I’m striking the machine too hard with every step.
In fact, I hate gyms in general. They’re stifling and boring and you’re sandwiched between other stifling, boring people who are watching Larry King on the overhead TVs or struggling to read Oprah magazines while they’re lazily pedaling on bikes or panting on treadmills.
But since the city of Orlando has proven time and time again to be a ridiculously unsafe environment for runners, pedestrians and the like – I don’t have much of a choice. It’s either jog on the treadmill after the sun goes down or be on the 6 o’clock news the next day.
I had a pretty upbeat workout last night, well, despite all this:
- The fact that 2 out of the 3 treadmills at the fitness room my complex provides were out of order. One wouldn’t turn on and the other would shut off if the tread level went any higher than 4.5
- The original running podcast I was listening to was erased because I have no idea how to configure the podcast section of iTunes and it makes me want to die
- I ended up having to listen to the backup techno podcast
- I loathe techno
- Seriously
- A young woman brought her daughter to the gym who shut off the lights while I was in the middle of switching paces – I had to grip the rails to prevent myself from eating tread or running into oblivion
- This young woman thought a good workout consisted of halfheartedly doing 10 rotations on a stationary bike and slowly climbing the the stairmaster for a few minutes before leaving – she could’ve just saved herself the trouble, stayed home and had a donut. It would’ve made no difference
Things I Did Like About My 2.5 Mile Run Last Night:
- I didn’t break down and cry like a little baby

It was the jab at techno, wasn’t it?

My problem is, I hate running with a passion.
I will do everything I can possibly do to avoid it.
I can barely make a mile without thinking all sorts of mind blocking things, and then falling over.
So kudos for actually being able to run =)

I know exactly what you mean, there are some days where I can barely get through it. But I think everyone has sort of fitness niche and mine just happens to be running. I find it kind of playful, like being a kid again! But you it might be cycling or weights! You never know!

Seattle is an amazing city to live in.
Most think that it’s pouring constantly, but it’s really only a drizzle. It is gray for like 8 or 9 months out of the year, but in the summer – when everything is so green it almost makes your eyes hurt – and not one drop of rain falls – it’s worth it.
My only issue was the cost of living. That was the only thing that hurt living there. So it’s just good to make sure you can afford living there. One day I will move back there – probably after retirement. Ha.

I love going to the gym… I go everyday and I always push myself to I’m literally looked like I fell into a pool when I’m done. I think you need to find a better gym to invest in or one that has free classes. =P

I think I’d love to visit but like with any major city – it’s so expensive to live there!

Yeah, or at least have a friend that is dedicated and can inspire you! I’m actually looking forward to my jog this afternoon
